My Vibrant Silk & Canvas Journey

I’m Margee Halsch, an Asheville-based artist creating colorful, energetic acrylic on canvas paintings and hand-painted silk garments using steam-set dyes.

From Mentorship to Global Artistry

I’ve had the privilege of learning from respected elders in major cities and studied under Diane Tuckman, a French artist who originally brought silk painting to America. Today, my silk scarves and vests are worn all around the world, from Ireland to Israel.

The Art of Movement and Hue

Through my “Margo Couture” collection, I craft silk accessories, including scarves, tunics, ponchos, and vests that brighten the style of all who wear them. My paintings are free-flowing movements, a dance with nature that captures the essence of my surroundings. I enjoy working with a variety of mediums, from acrylic and silk to wire, as each offers unique ways to express creativity.

My Creative Process Story Begins With Nature

  • My creative process story begins with inspiration drawn from nature as an avid walker, bicyclist, and gardener in North Carolina.
  • I love combining colors you might not expect to see together, yet they exist in nature, waiting to be discovered.
  • I work with various mediums, including acrylic, silk, and wire, which provide abundant opportunities for expression.

The Joy of Creative Exploration

I create from reference photos and imagination in equal measure, I follow Carl Jung's wisdom: “The creative mind plays with the objects it loves.”
